MAKERFEST

The AI: Machine Vision Track offers an immersive and innovative platform for students to explore AI concepts, enhance their technical skills, and solve real-world problems using digital image processing and automation.

All completed AI: Machine Vision projects are eligible to be entered into 2 categories at Penang MakerFest in conjunction with Penang International Science Fair:
– 5 Major Awards, scored by a panel of industry and technical judges
– 2 People’s Choice AI Project. Visitors will vote for their favorite AI project, determining the ultimate crowd-pleaser through a public voting system.

All winners will be revealed during the showcase and competition finale at the MakerFest award ceremony, showcasing the next generation of AI innovators.

The MakerFest Instructables competition provides an excellent opportunity for the school teams to display their remarkable built.

School teams are required to showcase their projects live to a panel of esteemed judges for major awards. The Champion for the Instructables Project will be announced during the finale on PISF 2024 award ceremony.

Projects are also opened to be voted by the public for the coveted two (2) People Choice Awards.

The MakerFest 4X4 competition offers an exciting and supportive platform for students to explore new skills, unleash their creativity, and engage in friendly competition with like-minded STEAM enthusiasts.

All completed 4X4s are eligible to be entered into three competitions:
1) Rampage Rumble Challenge: An adrenaline-pumping obstacle course where students will tackle over 30 obstacle tracks expertly provided by PSC, and an extra 2 ingeniously designed by the students themselves.
2) Drift & Dash Challenge: An exciting high-speed race to victory.
3) People’s Choice Track: The ultimate winner here is decided by public visitors through a voting system.

Some lucky members of the public will even have the opportunity to take the wheel and experience the specially designed obstacle course built for the 4X4. The winners of all these thrilling 4X4 competitions will be revealed during the grand finale at the PISF 2024 award ceremony on Dec 01, center stage at the SPICE ARENA.

MakerFest STEM Project Booth is a competition with the primary goal of fostering and inspiring participation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The top 15 projects from each category:
1) Young Makers: Teams with participating members under 12 years old.
2) Open category: Teams with participating members over 13 years old.

Finalists are invited to showcase their projects on the grand stage, MakerFest STEM Project Booth during the PISF2024. Their dedication, ingenuity, and commitment to STEM will be recognized and celebrated during the Award Ceremony at the SPICE Concourse Stage.

A problem solving Mechanical Construction Competition based on Physics principles.

Challengers are day visitors and sign-up on the spot to build a gadget with limited resources to transport an egg from high to low ground without breaking the egg.

– Each challenger who completed the challenge will receive a completer tag.
– All gadget built will be scored and put on leader board – Top 3 leader will receive mystery gifts

Challengers are day visitors and sign-up on the spot to learn AI tool, Ideogram to generate AI posters.

A MakerFest hands-on workshop on soldering & laser engraving.

Industry volunteer will assist visitors on the step-by-step as they solder their own badge and customize a wooden souvenir using laser engraving technology. Visitors will get to take home their very own cool badge and a laser-engraved keepsake, all personalized and made by them.

Explore Our Exclusive Kids’ Workshop Zone for Children Under 7, where they can partake in entertaining and educational workshops. Over the course of two days, 30th November and 1st December from 9am to 5pm, we’ll offer a range of engaging activities:

  1. Kaleidoscope: Children can get hands-on with this optical toy, creating beautiful patterns that introduce them to the world of colors and shapes, fostering early learning.

  2. Origami: Unlock the art of paper folding as kids craft intricate sculptures through precise folds, promoting creativity and fine motor skills.

  3. Tangram: Challenge young minds with the classic puzzle game that encourages spatial awareness and problem-solving skills as they arrange geometric shapes into specific patterns.

  4. Ponginator: Experience the thrilling fusion of ping-pong and precision as children aim to bounce ping-pong balls into target areas for endless fun and improved hand-eye coordination.
