Discover AI in Action!
Explore the possibilities of intelligent automation with Advanced MakerLab – AI: Machine Vision, a hands-on, six-month programme where students learn to use AI to recognise and respond to visual information. Guided by industry mentors, students explore machine learning through applications such as face detection and object recognition, developing their own projects to automate real-world tasks.
Following the Advanced MakerLab Final in October, the top projects return to MakerFest at PISF 2026 to vie for two special awards: Most Popular Project, voted by visitors, and Best Presentation, selected by a panel of judges. Witness the presentation of the five Major Awards, determined by industry experts at the Final, alongside these two special awards.
The excitement continues with the AI Vision Quest, returning this year. Teams put their trained AI cameras to the test—recognising road signs and responding correctly in a driving race for points. The highest scores and fewest mistakes win the top honours.

One Project. A New Purpose.
What happens when a familiar build meets an unexpected setting? This year’s Advanced MakerLab – Instructables challenges students to go beyond following instructions and give their chosen projects a new purpose.
Over six months, teams of four work with industry and PSC mentors to build a project from Instructables.com, and adapt it for a selected real-life domain. Each team must consider how its creation could serve a practical purpose in that setting, testing both engineering skills and original thinking.

One Car. Every Challenge.
Built to climb, tuned for speed and equipped to drive itself! The Advanced MakerLab 4×4 RC Car Challenge brings engineering to life as students refine their cars to take on different demands. Mechanical adjustments help conquer obstacles, coding tweaks sharpen racing performance, and sensors enable autonomous navigation—a car for all occasions!
Across six months, students combine mechanics, electronics, coding and physics to design, build and continually improve their own 4×4 RC cars. Their woodworking skills also take centre stage as they design and build garages for their cars.
After tackling the Rampage Rumble and Drift & Dash challenges at the Advanced MakerLab Final in October, teams return to MakerFest at PISF 2026 to showcase their creations and compete for special awards: Best Car, Best Driver, Best Garage and Best Tag Team. Get up close to the builds and see how engineering, craftsmanship and teamwork come together.
Keep an eye out for the team from a PSC-supported Orang Asli MakerLab school in Perak, travelling to Penang to put their car through its paces. Catch the students in action and cheer them on.

Students from SMK Kahang, SMK Bukit Pasir and SMK Bandar Maharani bring their ideas and creations to the MakerLab Johor Showcase at PISF 2026!
Through MakerLab, students gain access to tools for coding, microcontrollers, 3D design and 3D printing, building practical STEM skills through hands-on projects. These makerspaces provide room to experiment, solve problems and turn classroom learning into working creations.

“Can I try?” We hear it every year! The 4×4 challenge is always a crowd-puller, and this year, we’re opening the driving seat to the public at PISF 2026.
Walk in, sign up and take on the Speed Challenge or Obstacle Challenge. Race against the clock, conquer tricky terrain and get your name on the live leaderboard. Can you hold your spot as new challengers take the wheel?

Back by popular demand, the MacMaker Pop-Up Challenge returns to PISF 2026!
First launched as a walk-in engineering arena for kids, teens and families, MacMaker quickly became a crowd favourite. It invites curious minds to put their creativity, problem-solving and true maker spirit to the test. Participants of all ages design, build and test original prototypes in quick-fire, hands-on challenges that blend excitement with real-world engineering.
This year, the energy is higher than ever with brand-new pop-up maker missions! Using limited resources, smart thinking and plenty of ingenuity, challengers will race against time to turn everyday materials into high-performing inventions.
Whether you are teaming up with a friend, challenging your family or dropping in to test your skills, the MacMaker zone is the ultimate playground to prototype bold ideas, top the leaderboard and experience the joy of engineering in action.

Try your hand at soldering and discover the possibilities of laser engraving! Friendly industry volunteers will guide you through soldering your own badge and personalising a wooden souvenir through laser engraving.
Whether you’re picking up a soldering iron for the first time or curious about how a laser turns a design into an engraving, this workshop offers a fun introduction to practical making skills. Get creative, learn from experienced volunteers and enjoy the satisfaction of making something yourself. And your own creations to take home.
